What We Did

Working with a writer and a fellow designer who curated the image library, Therum paired messaging with the images that best captured each line, producing seven full banner sets for the campaign.

The Outcome

The ads ran across multiple channels and became a key part of the brand's ongoing marketing, driving visibility and engagement with shoppers and supporting Stop and Shop's growth.

02. Our Role

Therum designed the banner sets with a writer and a fellow designer

Flame grilled in fifteen banner

Amp Agency brought us onto Stop and Shop's paid display program, and we worked alongside a writer who set the lines and a fellow designer who curated the image library. Our part was the design of the units themselves: how each headline breaks, where the photograph sits in a shape that tall or that wide, and where the dot lockup and the button land so every unit in a set reads as one ad.

03. Our Approach

Lay out every unit for its own shape instead of resizing one master

stop and shop

In each set the same parts move around: the Stop and Shop dot lockup, a headline that sets grey sans serif against one script word in magenta or green, a line of body copy, and a pill button reading shop now or shop recipe. In the medium rectangle the photograph takes the left half. In the half page it drops below the copy. In the leaderboard it shrinks to a thumbnail at the far left and the button goes right. Nothing is squeezed to fit.

06. Philosophy

Respect the shape of every format

We kept the same parts in every set and gave each unit its own layout instead of squeezing one master to fit. Work built that way holds up across channels, which is why the ads stayed part of the brand’s ongoing marketing.
