Nex Drinks Partners presentation system

Overview

Nex Drinks Partners raises and invests in non-alcoholic drinks brands, and needed a deck to put in front of investors. We designed the presentation and the template under it: one accent colour, two type roles, a repeating question and answer rhythm, and a standing footer. The template replaced the one they already had, and the deck came in a teaser cut and a full cut.

What We Did

We set the type roles, the accent colour and the page furniture, then designed each page type against them. That covered table styling, chart styling, the treatment for photography and portraits, the placeholder states for figures that were not final, and the running footer that carries the confidentiality line on one side and the page number on the other. The template was handed over for the fund to keep using.

The Outcome

Nex Drinks Partners came away with a presentation template to replace their old one, and a new deck to showcase the brand for investors. A separate teaser package was produced alongside it. Because the template holds the type, colour and footer, later pages can be added without the deck drifting. The fund did raise money.

01. The Ask

Give a new drinks fund a deck it could take to investors

The draft cover the fund was working from

Nex Drinks Partners was going out to raise for a fund focused on non-alcoholic drinks brands. They had a deck already and it was not going to hold up in a room of investors.

Two things came out of the work. A presentation template the fund could keep filling rather than a one-off file, and the investor deck itself, built in a short teaser cut and a full cut.

02. Our Role

We made the template and both cuts of the deck

Drinking together, the social occasion the category is built on

Therum set the colour, the type roles and the page system, then built every page type the fund needed and handed it over as an editable file.

The deck sits on one accent, a muted teal, against paper white and near black. Every page in the system is built from that one accent and the space around it.

03. Our Approach

Start from what they had, then rebuild the page system underneath it

The deck the fund arrived with ran on a bright green, a bottle shape across the cover and a different layout on nearly every page. The information was right. The document did not read as one thing.

We kept the argument and the running order and rebuilt everything underneath: one accent colour, two type roles, a single grid, and a lot of white space so the numbers carry the page instead of the decoration.

The presentation template

Twenty layouts the fund can keep filling The template is the deliverable the fund uses after we leave. A cover, section openers, content layouts in single and multiple columns with and without images, a quote page, a question page and a closing page. Every layout is built on the same grid and the same two type roles, so a page added in a year still looks like the deck.

The teaser deck

The short cut, rebuilt page for page The teaser is the twelve page cut, the one that goes out first. Same argument as the old deck, same order, rebuilt on the new system. Drag any of the sliders below to see a page before and after.

The full deck

The long cut, every page on the template The full deck runs the same spine at length: what non-alc is, the consumer, the landscape, the soft drinks and alcohol picture, the investment thesis, and how the fund works, then the financial terms and an appendix. Section openers break it up, and every page is built from the template.
